I’d like to find out where these types of stores actually purchase their furniture and home accessories. Often I think they purchase items and refinish them and sell at a higher price. Where could I go if I wanted to find the pieces and refinish them myself? Particularly interested in San Jose, California/Bay Area.

I’m renting a small rectangular studio flat next month. It has a seperate bathroom and kitchen, but I need to figure out how to furnish it with a bed, wardrope, sofa and possibaly some storage unit.
