First off, you should measure your room so you know how much space to work within. Never let your outlets dictate furniture placement: there are extension cords and space saver plugs to accommodate this. You want your rooms to be welcoming so let there be good traffic flow so do not stuff too many or too large furniture pieces if you do not have the space or it will make it look smaller than it is — people should be able to enter and exit with ease. Consider storage when purchasing pieces like coffee tables, end tables, ottomans and bookcases to maximize your space. Finally, remember that the style and colour of your furniture can shape the space of your room: Over-stuffed and/or dark pieces fill up a room pretty quickly — if your apartment is small I would lean more towards lighter, more streamlined furniture.
I’m not sure what you’re looking for but… for bathrooms I’ve always liked a Japanese bath style. Very simplistic muted colors, things from nature, no clutter. Think relaxation, and calm. Bedrooms you could go whimsical, it’s not as corny as it sounds. Like dark blue ceiling, sponge paint with dreamy colors etc. To help invoke the idea of sleeping. Kitchens I’ve always liked Tuscan colors and ideas. Warm and inviting, reds, golds. It all depends on what your tastes are. Pick a palette of colors you like and go from there. Remember in decorating rooms there is usually a theme, like a theme of color or pattern. If you go to crazy with mismatch colors and patterns, your room will not look decorated really. Hope this helps.
