We are buying a beautiful home that I love. I’m just really confused on how we should decorate. The kitchen, dining room and living room are all open to each other. The kitchen cabinets are a medium-blonde wood, but my hubby and I would prefer a darker wood for our furniture. Would this look okay, or should we find something that matches the kitchen better? Also, should we try to match the wood pieces in our living room to the dining room set as well? Thank you so much for you help, any advice would be appreciated!

I need to furnish my whole home, where can I go?

I need to furnish my whole home, where can I go?

We are moving and are currently in a fully furnished home so we need our own furiture!

Where can we go to get everything we need for a good price?
We want new furnishings!

Including Washer, Dryer, Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room, and We need it all from 1 Spot!

The apartment is 2 bed, 2 bath carpeted apartment. Stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher are already there. I already have a bed, mattress, drawers, night stand, sheets, towels and some other things. (not really concerned with my roommate’s furniture situation) Basically what we need are furnishings for living room, dining area, and kitchen. We don’t have any TV’s or major furniture. So what would be the best way to go about furnishing and what should our budget look like?

I recently moved to a new area, and I couldn’t bring any of the stuff from my old place. I’ve had apartments before, but most of my stuff was either donated or purchased off friends inexpensively. About how much am I looking at to furnish from scratch, if I’m willing to buy used things off craigslist, or from the salvation army? I’d need to furnish a bedroom, living room and kitchen. Thanks!

Tips for Decorating Living Rooms

The living room is the primarily visiting spot in your home. It is the place where you gather family and friends. Therefore, you want to make sure your living room is as comfortable as possible. The living room is often the first room people see when entering your home so it should be well designing and have all the right furnishings to meet the specific needs of the room.

For each furnishing piece you choose for your living room you want to give careful consideration to the placement of the furniture. The placement of furniture should be focused around a purpose. All the activity areas should be distinguishable. No matter what size of living room you have the home furnishing areas should include a conversation area. If possible, you want to make sure a living room can comfortably seat at least six individuals.

You want to make sure you have a focal point for your living room before you start placing home furnishings. Often the focal point is an entertainment center, fireplace or large window. Your furniture should be grouped around the focal point while keeping in mind the size of your living room.

Often it is a good idea to use a rug to define specific seating areas. If your living room is large enough to have multiple seating areas then you want to characterize each one with a unique rug while connecting them to a central theme. Lastly, when it comes to successfully designing your living room you want to have neutral or light colors on the walls. This can be helpful since you will be able to decorate your living room with furniture of any color or style.

There is no need to go out and buy new furniture if they don’t match with the theme or style of your living room. Rather consider getting slipcovers for your furniture if they are still in good functional condition. You can often find standardized slip covers for sofas, chairs and loveseats that come in a variety of styles so match any decorating needs you have. This way you can easily design a beautiful living room to gather family and friends.
