B-MOVIE / ALICE EVE: Furnishing The Empty Dream
Time in YouTube for this gorgeous track by underrated new wave / techno band B-Movie. The song, played live at the BBC, boasts not only a fretless bass solo but also a superb synthesizer solo which seems to take off from the legendary solo at the very end of David Bowie’s immortal “Ashes To Ashes.” British actress Alice Eve provides a fetching backdrop as a dream muse. B-Movie: Rick Holliday – keyboards Steve Hovington – vocals, bass Paul Statham – guitar Bob Thompson – drums Graham Boffey – drums This band was active in the 80′s. I especially loved their “A Letter From Afar” single and, of course, also their instant classic “Nowhere Girl.” Thinking of dreams, I’ve included here images of two Spaniards: Salvador Dalí and Calderón de la Barca, playwright author of the masterpiece “Life Is A Dream.”
